A Blue Plaque is a permanent sign installed on buildings to establish a link between that location and a famous personality, hence serving as a historical marker. In Pune, the 'Blue Plaque' list was instituted by Jayant Tilak, grandson of Bal Gangadhar Tilak, in 1994.
The present Blue Plaque Guide incorporates the life sketches of persons who have been honoured so far by fixing a Blue Plaque on the place of their former residence.
The Blue Plaque committee works under the banner of ‘Pune Aitihasik Vaastu Smriti’ and this activity is controlled by Tilak Smarak Trust. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr Deepak Tilak, for granting us permission to reproduce their work on the Blue Plaque list.
